RD Cruz sets tree planting on Earth Day 2019

Camp Col Rafael C Rodriguez, Butuan City ----PRO13 Regional Director BGen Gilberto DC Cruz led the participants of Earth Day 2019:“Protect Our Species” on a coastal clean-up and planted 1,000 Mangroves and 200 Talisay trees in Sitio San Roque, Brgy Punta, Nasipit, Agusan del Norte early morning today.

More than 300 participants from Environmental Management Bureau, Philippine Army, Local Government Agencies, Punta Fisherfolk Dweller Association, Regional Mobile Force Battalion 13, Agusan del Norte Police Provincial Office, Nasipit MPS, Regional Community Affairs and Development Division and Regional Public Information Office participated the said activity which started a short program around 6:00AM.

“For the past years, Caraga cops have conducted efforts to protect environment and revived forest through its aggressive tree-planting activities. This year PRO13 opted Mangrove planting since it is well known to have a lot of benefits not just for the environmental protection but to the economy as well,” BGen Cruz said.

RD Cruz is encouraging dwellers and other stakeholders during a short talk to start growing more trees and thanked them for continuing to care for the trees planted in the area.

He says that tree planting and coastal clean-up is part of PRO13 activities to celebrate 49th Earth Day 2019.

Caraga cops arrests 9 suspects for loose firearms, drugs

Camp Col Rafael C Rodriguez, Butuan City ---- Caraga cops arrested nine persons in a series of operations against loose firearms across the region yesterday.

PBGEN GILBERTO DC CRUZ identified Bonifacio Tantoy Bagante, 47, close-in bodyguard of a Mayor in Agusan del Sur; Dandy Tacio Mansigue, 39; Renante Beto, 41; Barangay Kagawad Archie Perez, 35; and Edgar Beto, 43, as among those arrested for violation of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

Caraga cops also arrested through search warrant Benjie Manlicayan, Junrito Lavisto, and Marcelito Precioso, Barangay Kagawad of Brgy Nuevo Trabajo, San Luis, Agusan del Sur.

During the operations, authorities seized UZI Caliber 9mm pistol; two caliber .45 pistol Colt, .357 revolver, two 12 gauge shotgun, three short magazine of caliber .45 pistol Colt, one long magazine of UZI Caliber 9mm pistol, and 69 ammunition.

Meanwhile, Saint Nicolas C Ecleo, 34, was arrested in Barangay Sta Cruz, San Jose, Dinagat Islands for drugs and gun. Ecleo was caught during a search warrant with 100 grams of Marijuana amounting to Php12, 000.00; drug paraphernalia; and a Caliber .45 pistol.

RD Cruz says that the police would run after law violators, even if they were public officials or private citizen.

The series of operations were conducted to account for all loose firearms as part of the anti-criminality campaign in the region and based on verified intelligence reports.
“We do not care whoever the violator is. If he violates the law, we will implement the law,” RD Cruz stated.

Manhunt ops intensified against suspect tagged in stabbing incident in Butuan City

Police Brigadier General Gilberto DC Cruz, Caraga Police Director, has ordered Butuan City Police Office (BCPO) to conduct intensive manhunt operation against the suspect on the stabbing incident that killed a media practitioner around 10:00AM on Black Saturday, April 20.

The follow-up investigation conducted by Butuan City Police Station 1 resulted in the identification of the suspect as ULATING MACARAMPAT BARAPANGCAT a.k.a. OLA SARANSAMEN, male, 33 years old, dispatcher, and resident of Purok 6, Narra Road, Barangay New Society Village, Butuan City.

A Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) headed by Police Lieutenant Colonel Glenn C Sampaga, Deputy City Director for Operations of BCPO, was immediately activated to look after the case.

Francisco Patindol, 52 years old, married, Radio Commentator of DXJM-Butuan City, and recently residing in Montilla Street, Barangay San Ignacio, Butuan City, was stabbed with a knife hitting the left side of his chest.

The victim together with his companion was in Narra Road, Barangay New Society Village, particularly beside Alba’s Copier Center, when the drunk suspect approached them and without any apparent reason, stabbed the victim.

The victim was brought to Manuel J. Santos Hospital, Butuan City for immediate treatment but was declared dead around 12:35PM of same day.

“We already identified witnesses and a case of murder will be filed against the suspect who is now subject for manhunt operation. We are using all available resources to track down the suspect to give justice to the victim and his family,” PBGEN Cruz said.

PRO13 tops Crime Solution Efficiency, 2 Quarters in a row

Police Regional Office (PRO) 13 had the most number of crimes solved in the fourth quarter of 2018 and in the first quarter of 2019, topping the Crime Solution Efficiency (CSE) among the 17 police regional offices nationwide.

According to Police Colonel James T Goforth, Chief of the Regional Investigation and Detective Management Division (RIDMD), in the last quarter of 2018, PRO13 had the highest CSE rating at 86.19% followed by the National Capital Region Police Office with 86.07% as second and PRO4A with 79.32% as third.

While in the first quarter of 2019, PRO13 had the highest CSE rate at 89.39%, followed by the PRO11 with 85.41% as second, and PRO1 with 83.01% as third.

The results came from Crime Research and Analysis Center of the Directorate for Investigation and Detective Management, Camp Crame, Quezon City.

For the period October 1 to December 31, 2018, the total crime volume in the region reached 2259 comprised of 406 index crimes and 1,853 non-index crimes. Out of 2,259 crime volume, 1,947 crime incidents were solved by the police units.

While for the period January 1 until March 31 of this year, the RIDMD has recorded a total of 2112 total crime volume comprised of 355 index crimes and 1,757 non-index crimes. Out of 2112 crime volume, 1888 crime incidents were solved.

“This is a result of collaborative efforts of the PNP, other law enforcement agencies and all stakeholders with the active support of the community. Rest assured that the fight against criminality and threats do not end here. We will continue to strengthen our anti-criminality campaign as well as our crime-solving efforts to improve the peace and order and ensure the safety and security of all Caraganons,” said Police Brigadier General Gilberto DC Cruz, PRO 13 Director.
