Cops, Officer's ladies club participate in community outreach program in Dinagat Islands

Police Regional Office (PRO) 13 and its Officer's Ladies Club (OLC) headed by Madame Elvie Esquivel, the wife of PRO13 Director Brigadier General Joselito Esquivel Jr. took part in the activity held in Brgy. Carmen, Loreto town on October 17, 2019.

The outreach program was held in partnership with Provincial Board Members League of the Philippines, Surigao Optometric Society, Local Government Unit and Go Serbisyo-United Caraga.

More than 1,000 residents from Brgy Carmen and nearby communities received free basic services like acupuncture, medical and dental check up, tooth extraction, and giving of free medicines, umbrellas and slippers.

According to RD Esquivel Jr, more outreach programs have been lined to reach out the less fortunate families in the region and to foster stronger police-community ties.

2 Suspects Neutralize in Police Operations in Caraga

Camp Col Rafael C Rodriguez, Butuan City ------ In the intensified campaign against loose firearms, two suspects were neutralized during the separate police operations conducted by Provincial Intelligence Branch (PIB) of Surigao del Sur, Police Provincial Office and Tagbina Municipal Station early this morning, October 17, 2019.

Brigadier General Joselito T Esquivel Jr., PRO13 Director, said that around 5:00AM today, the troop armed with Search Warrant No. 14-2019 issued by Judge Lilibeth O Ladaga of RTC 11th Judicial Region Branch 28 Lianga, Surigao del Sur conducted operation against Elesio S Labi alias “Lesyo” in Purok 6, Brgy. Maglatab, Tagbina, Surigao del Sur.

During the operation, Labi fired his handgun that prompted the operating troops to retaliate that resulted in his death.

Seized during the operation in his premises were; fragmentation grenade, and improvised rifle (.22 caliber). The SOCO personnel arrived the crime scene and immediately conducted a crime scene investigation and recovered caliber .38 revolver without serial number loaded with ammunition, one fired cartridge of caliber .38, one bolo with scabbard, and two fired cartridge cases of 9mm pistol.

Other operation was conducted around 5:30AM against Allan Y Taer in Purok 1, Brgy. Ugoban, Tagbina, Surigao del Sur, by members of Provincial Intelligence Branch, Tagbina MPS and Surigao del Sur Police Provincial Mobile Force Company implemented Search Warrant No.16-2019 issued and signed by Hon. Lilibeth O. Ladaga, Presiding Judge of RTC 11th Judicial Region, Branch 28, Lianga, Surigao del Sur, dated October 15, 2019.

During Implementation, the suspect tried to grapple the M-16 rifle of one of the operating personnel that prompted other operating troop to shoot the suspect. As a result, one of the operating troops was wounded while the suspect died.

Seized in the premises were two sachets of shabu found on top of the suspect’s cabinet, one caliber .38 revolver with ammunition, five fired cartridges, and one fragmentation grenade.

The suspects who died in police operations were noted as responsible in many robbery incidents in Tagbina town, PCOL Francisco D Dungo, Jr, Surigao del Sur, Provincial Director disclosed.

PBGEN Esquivel, Jr, assured the public that Caraga police is determined in its campaign against all forms of criminality. Thus, he urged the active collaboration of the community by providing timely information to the Caraga police.

50 Caraga cops undergo SWAT Course

Camp Col Rafael C Rodriguez, Butuan City ------ Fifty police officers in Caraga region will undergo Special Weapons and Tactics training which has formally opened today, October 17, 2019, at Police Regional Office (PRO) 13.
Brigadier General Joselito T Esquivel Jr., PRO13 Director, said that the fifty participants have passed screening tests such as agility test, medical examination and Neuro Psychiatric Test, prior joining the training. The participants will undergo 65 days of rigid training which will be conducted by the well-trained personnel from the National Capital Region Police Office.
The participants are comprised of 38 male from different Police Provincial Offices, Regional Mobile Force Battalion 13 and 12 female Police Officers coming from Butuan City Mobile Force Company and Agusan del Sur Provincial Mobile Force Company.
The training will be held at the Regional Special Training Unit 13 in Santiago, Agusan del Norte. It aims to enhance the effectiveness, efficiency and tactical proficiency of the PNP personnel in dealing with response scenarios and armed encounters.
In his message, PBGEN Esquivel Jr, reminded the SWAT participants to live by the motto, “Death before dishonor”.
