PRESS RELEASE20 March 2022Butuan City operatives' quick response led to the arrest of suspects in the death of a Saudi Arabian National Camp Col Rafael C Rodriguez, Butuan City ------------ POLICE BRIAGIER GENERAL ROMEO M CARAMAT JR, PRO13 Director has lauded the Butuan City Police Station (BCPO) 1 operating personnel for the quick response that led to the arrest of suspects in the death of a Saudi Arabian National today (March 20) through the conduct of hot pursuit operation. RD CARAMAT JR disclosed that with the swift response of the BCPS1 police operatives on the robbery and homicide incident resulted in the arrest of the suspects identified as Edward Lauron Auman, 37 years old, with live-in partner, and Emiliano Demit Bati-On, Jr, 23 years old, male, with live-in partner, both resident in Brgy. San Vicente, Butuan City, was positively identified by the witness. According to the investigation gathered by BCPS1, the incident stemmed from a phone call notifying that there was an alleged robbery incident transpired in Purok-14, Upper Mandacpan, Brgy. San Vicente, Butuan City inside the apartment of the victim identified as Ahmed Yousef Aljamaa, male, 70 years old, Saudi Arabian National (found lying in bed lifeless with blood in his cloth). Upon receipt of said information, operatives swiftly proceeded to the place of the incident to validate the said information. Then and there the operatives saw the victim’s fiancée Nerylyn Albay Silao, 20 years old tied up and her minor sister was held outside the room where the victim was located. Minutes later, after the commission of the crime, suspects took their four units of cellular phones, an undetermined number of US dollars, and other belongings of the victim, ran away, and immediately fled. With the hot-pursuit operation of the police operatives, the above suspects were caught near the crime scene by the responding PNP personnel.Further investigation revealed that the victim allegedly received a threat from his former fiancée that something will happen to him and his fiancée if he would marry another woman. The region's top cop has now ordered a comprehensive investigation to identify and apprehend those responsible for this horrible crime. “As one of the directives of our CPNP PGEN DIONARDO B CARLOS, PRO13 has been tenacious in its fight against criminality here in Caraga. PNP Caraga is presently conducting a hot-pursuit operation on the remaining suspect. Ohagan, tagged as number one regional level most wanted person in PRO 10, was arrested based on the strength of a warrant under the crime of murder docketed under criminal case number 2020-7996 dated June 30, 2021, issued by the Regional Trial Court (RTC), Branch 43, Gingoog City. Another public official deposited for safekeeping his one unit of SWSN .38 caliber revolver with Serial Number 81481 without ammunition with an expiry date on May 12, 2011, in BCPS4. Josefa and Esperanza in the province of Agusan del Sur while two shotgun rifles, two grenades, and one rifle grenade are all surrendered in Butuan City. Based on reports from Butuan City police, accused Nahial committed the crime of Rape victimizing his neighbor, a mentally challenged, last November 2020.
